Elias Luyimbazi Nalukola, the newly elected Member of Parliament for Kawempe North, was sworn in today, March 26, 2025.
Despite taking his oath just four days before the end of the month, Nalukola is set to receive his full March salary and allowances, totaling Shs 55 million.
According to parliamentary sources, he will also receive Shs 300 million before the end of March to purchase a new car, a privilege extended to all MPs. Speaker Anita Among confirmed this during his swearing-in ceremony, directing the Clerk to Parliament, Adolf Mwesige, to ensure Nalukola receives all entitlements immediately.
“The Clerk to Parliament is directed to provide Nalukola with all his privileges as a Member of Parliament with immediate effect,” Among said. “This includes a new car to facilitate his movement while carrying out his representation duties for the people of Kawempe North.”
Nalukola’s swearing-in marks the beginning of his tenure as Kawempe North’s representative in Parliament. His election has been welcomed by constituents, who expect him to address their concerns and work towards their development.
