Uneb Closes 2025 Exam Registration Today

The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has announced that today, July 31, 2025, is the final day for registering candidates for this year’s national examinations, including the Primary Leaving Examination (PLE), Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE), and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE).

In a statement issued Tuesday morning, UNEB Executive Director Dan Odongo urged Heads of Centres to take advantage of the remaining hours to enroll any learners who are yet to be registered.

“All school portals will be closed at the end of today, and UNEB will no longer receive registration data for this year’s candidates,” Odongo said.

“We urge schools to ensure that no learner is left out of this year’s examinations.”

Following the close of registration, schools will be required to display printed candidate registers in prominent areas to allow students and parents to verify details.

UNEB also revealed that it will roll out an SMS verification option to make the process more accessible.

However, the board clarified that corrections to submitted data will only be permitted in cases where errors are detected in a candidate’s bio-data—such as names, gender, or date of birth—and must be promptly reported through official channels.

As of the latest update, 1,415,857 candidates have been registered nationwide, reflecting a 6.8% increase from last year’s figure of 1,319,139.

The steady rise in candidate numbers is seen as an encouraging sign of education sector recovery following years of pandemic-related disruptions.

UNEB has reiterated its commitment to ensuring a smooth and credible examination process, and called on all education stakeholders to support efforts toward accurate registration and timely
