EC Turns Away Katumba Oyee
The Electoral Commission has turned away presidential hopeful John Katumba, popularly known as Katumba Oyee, after he presented his nomination documents without the mandatory submission letter.
The letter, which serves as formal notification of returning forms and voter signatures, is required before the Commission can receive nomination papers.
Katumba, dressed in a pink blazer over a white shirt and carrying a stack of neatly filed papers, cut a more polished figure compared to his youthful and improvised campaign in 2021.
Back then, he had no car and was eventually chauffeured in a battered blue Toyota Raum.
On Monday, however, he pulled up to the Commission headquarters in Kampala in a cream Toyota Prado plastered with campaign slogans promising jobs, free education, tax reform, and better infrastructure.
Despite the setback, Katumba has not been disqualified and still has time within the nomination window to resubmit the documents with the required letter and complete the process.
