President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda took center stage at the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week Summit 2025, where he passionately advocated for sustainable development and shared insights into Uganda’s journey towards environmental conservation and economic growth.
Arriving in the UAE capital for this high-profile event, President Museveni was welcomed by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, signaling the importance of the discussions to follow. The summit, known for bringing together leaders from around the globe, focused this year on “Innovating for Sustainability”, aiming to forge new pathways for environmental stewardship and economic resilience.
In his keynote address, President Museveni highlighted Uganda’s recent strides in sustainable energy practices, including the expansion of renewable energy sources like solar and hydroelectric power. “Our vision is not just to grow economically but to do so in harmony with our environment,” Museveni stated, emphasizing the balance between development and conservation.
He also touched upon Uganda’s agricultural innovations, which aim to increase productivity while reducing the carbon footprint. “We are empowering our farmers with knowledge and technology to ensure food security while preserving our natural resources,” he added.
