Uganda Cranes Faces South Africa in Sold-Out CHAN Showdown at Namboole

Uganda will take on South Africa on Monday in a decisive CHAN 2024 Group C clash at Namboole Stadium, with all tickets for the highly anticipated match already sold out.

The  match, which kicks off at 8 p.m., will determine whether the Uganda Cranes advance to the quarter-finals.

Uganda leads the group with six points, narrowly ahead of Algeria and South Africa, who both have five.

“This is a crucial match for the Uganda Cranes where a positive result is needed for us to be guaranteed a place in the Quarter Finals,” the Local Organising Committe said in a statement on Sunday.

Officials warned fans against buying physical tickets, stressing that all sales for Uganda’s matches have been conducted exclusively online since Match Day One.

The LOC said counterfeit or duplicate tickets will not be accepted at the gates, and offenders risk arrest.

“Anyone carrying a fake or duplicate ticket – be it ordinary, silver, premium, VIP, VVIP, or Presidential – shall not be allowed entry through the gates,” the statement added.

To accommodate fans without tickets, the LOC announced free Fan Parks in Masindi, Kampala, and Bweyogerere, where the match will be screened live alongside music performances.

The venues include Café Milano, Kyadondo Rugby Grounds, and King’s Park Arena.

The LOC thanked fans for their strong support, noting that an average of 34,000 spectators have turned up whenever the Cranes play at Namboole.
