The Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) has announced the official program for the International conference on contemporary Issues in Islamic Jurisprudence.
The conference, set for December 9-10, 2024, marks the celebrations of UMSC’s 50+ anniversary.
Speaking at a media briefing on Saturday evening at the UMSC headquarters, Dr. Sheikh Ziyad Swaleh Lubanga, the UMSC Director of Sharia and chairperson of the conference organising committee, highlighted the program details.
The event will feature presentations from distinguished Muslim scholars who are scheduled to arrive in Uganda on Sunday, December 8, 2024.
The two-day conference will set the stage for the Qur’an competitions on December 11 and culminate in the grand UMSC at 50+ Anniversary celebrations on December 12, 2024.
Prominent Islamic scholars and dignitaries are expected to attend, including Dr. Zakir Naik, Prof. Dr. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary General of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy based in Jeddah, Dr. Alhagi Manta, Head of International Cooperation at the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Prof. Dr. Doukoure Boubakar from Burkina Faso, Syilla Saydour, Secretary General of the African Muslim Scholars Forum, and Prof. Nandwa Wilson Hassan from Kenya.
They will join a host of Ugandan participants, including Muftis, university lecturers, prominent preachers, and international delegates.
Dr. Sheikh Lubanga urged Ugandans to warmly welcome the guests, emphasising the nation’s tradition of hospitality as the “Pearl of Africa.”
He called on the public to attend the conference’s opening ceremony, set to commence in December 9 2024, and to actively participate in the events leading up to the landmark anniversary celebration on Thursday, December 12.
