At least one person has died and another is receiving medical treatment after a building under construction collapsed on Sunday night in Buziga, a high-end suburb in Kampala’s Makindye Division.
Details surrounding the incident remain scanty, and it is not yet clear whether the structure was a residential or commercial project.
However, the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has confirmed the collapse and announced that rescue efforts are ongoing.
In a brief statement on Monday, KCCA said the incident occurred in Katuuso Zone, Buziga Parish.
“We have learnt of a building that has collapsed in Katuuso Zone, Buziga Parish, Makindye Division in the night of June 15, 2025,” KCCA said via X (formerly Twitter).
The statement added that one person was rescued from the rubble and is currently receiving medical attention. The Uganda Police Force is working alongside KCCA at the scene.
Unverified images shared on social media purportedly taken from the site shows the body of one person int eh rubble.
No further details have been provided on the cause of the collapse or whether more people could be trapped.
KCCA has pledged to keep the public updated as more information becomes available.
This is a developing story.
