Kampala, Uganda In the early hours of this morning, at approximately 3:15 AM, the National Unity Platform (NUP) headquarters in Kavule was the scene of an unexpected and aggressive incident. NUP officials have stated that a team led by the controversial musician Alien Skin, whose real name is Patrick Mulwana, breached the security of the party’s headquarters.

According to a statement released by NUP, the group not only violated the premises but also engaged in intimidating behavior towards the security guard on duty. The attackers reportedly used spray paint to leave provocative graffiti on the walls of the NUP office, turning what should have been a quiet morning into one of tension and vandalism.

The NUP’s statement expressed disappointment, drawing parallels to historical instances where individuals have been allegedly used by political entities to disrupt opposition activities. “It is regrettable that these brothers have learned nothing from those who the regime and other detractors have used against the people in the past, including Sipapa, Sobi, Zebra, Kitatta, among others,” the statement read. It further highlighted the cyclical nature of such incidents around election times, suggesting a pattern of politically motivated disturbances.

The party expressed hope that those involved would reflect on their actions before facing the consequences. “It is sad that each time we’re approaching elections, there is always a group willing to be used to engage in crimes against the people. We hope they will do some introspection before time catches up with them,” the statement concluded.

Local police have yet to comment on the incident, but there is an expectation that an investigation will be initiated to apprehend those responsible and to assess the extent of the damage caused. Alien Skin, known for his hit song ‘Sitya Danger,’ has a history of public controversy, and this accusation adds another layer to his public persona.

The NUP, led by opposition figure Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine, has been vocal about the challenges it faces, including what it describes as state-sponsored harassment and intimidation. This incident could potentially escalate tensions in Uganda’s political landscape, especially as the country moves closer to upcoming elections.

This event underscores the ongoing struggle for political space and freedom of expression in Uganda, where political activities often intersect with acts of defiance or violence.
